Here is classic small truck from Japan that was imported to the US from 1978-1987.  It ran a 1.8L flat 4 engine with carburetors.  All the Brats had four-wheel drive and a few had optional T-top split roofs.  Some of the Brats had welded in rear seats with carpet.  The reason for this was to possibly avoid the 25% import tariff!  If it passed as a passenger car, it would only have a 2.5% tariff!

A long time customer recently purchased this car and wanted a full service and an overall check.  There was a few things to repair, but considering its age and excellent condition it was a small list.  A couple of things were leaking, a valve gasket and the rear main seal.  A new clutch and exhaust system is also in the works.

1.8L flat 4 cylinder.  Notice the air intake is located to the front of the engine bay.  This allowed the spare tire to sit behind the intake up towards the fire wall.

What is a Subaru Brat without the rear seats?  With a little research and phone calls, OEM seats were found and bought.  This classic will truly be original.
